Navigating Your Wellbeing in Uncertain Times
It is my core belief that if a practice is not useful, it will not last. Only if something adds value and has meaning will it become sustainable.
Personally, the past year has been a battleground of bad news and horror. I make no secret of my personal and political affiliations: I stand for human rights. I believe in democracy. I believe in DEI. I believe in fairness and justice. I support all things that protect our natural world and environment. I believe in sustainability and equality. I hope that if you are reading this, we are aligned; and if we are not aligned, I hope you may open your heart to these ideas.
Over the past year, I have been working on how to self regulate in a world that inundates me with catastrophic news, cataclysmic events, daily horrors, and a penetration of fear that I have never experienced. The most honest truth is that I do not always do this perfectly. But there are valuable insights that have helped me better exist in the current world.
Because building a pattern is infinitely more successful than trying many things simultaneously, pick one thing and incorporate it to your daily routine:
It’s become invaluable to limit the amount of screen time that I have. Scrolling is not relaxing, it’s addictive and anxiety producing. Social media thrives and is designed to feed you everything that keeps you engaged. Always remember that scrolling isn’t free….it’s generating engagement and therefore revenue for each platform.
Find your time to be online and on social media and then stop. Consider scrolling through new platforms, like Ground News, that provides media bias and is still focused on the truth.
