About

A temple for idols and the pilgrim’s Ka’aba,

The Tables of the Torah and the book of the Koran.

I profess the religion of Love, and whatever direction Its steed may take,

Love is my religion and my faith.

– Ibn Arabi

Jorge Luna

Originally born and raised in Mexico City, Jorge Moved to beautiful Palos Verdes California at a young age. There, he developed a great love and connection to nature and beauty. By his teenage years, his affinity for spiritual endeavors had grown into a a defining personality characteristic. Jorge graduated from Chadwich School and went on to attend college at University of Pennsylvania. During his tenure at Penn, Jorge first began working in fitness, receiving his first certifications in Group Exercise and Spinning. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, receiving his B.A.s in International Relations and French (with a Minor in Fine Arts), he was recruited to work in Management in San Francisco. He transitioned to work for the Mexican Government as a Direct Investment Attache to the San Francisco Mexican Consulate.

During his time in the City, Jorge furthered his passion for fitness by becoming a Personal Trainer, competing in triathlons and working privately in the industry. In his spare time, Jorge attended California Culinary Academy and embraced his love for culinary arts.

Honoring his presupposed path, Jorge returned to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California School of Law. Although the law was never his passion, this education has served him in incalculable ways throughout his life. During his legal education, Jorge forged a second path in many fitness and wellness paths: Pilates, Rowing, Yoga.

By 2004, Jorge’s landscape had evolved completely. He left his legal practice and focused on becoming a wellness and fitness coach/professional. His interest for healing and wellness became his central focus. He received his 200 hour certification from Yogaworks and then began deepening his studies in all areas of yoga and yoga therapy. Among his favorite trainings were those led by Sean Corn, Annie Carpenter, Vinnie Marino, John Gaydos, Mia Togo and Max Strom. Jorge is a fully certified Experienced Yoga Teacher with over 2000 hours of training.

Focusing his attention on the healing power of yoga, Jorge completed a two-year certification in Yoga Therapy from Loyola Marymount University in August of 2010. It is here in the field of Yoga Therapy, that he found his greatest calling. Yoga Therapy is a return to the holistic and traditional yogic teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya. This lineage differs from western “power yoga” in its therapeutic value and overall understanding of optimal health.

In 2013 Jorge became a 500 hour certified Krishnamcharya teacher. Its foundations lie at the heart of ancient yogic texts and its practices help ailments of all kinds: diabetes, obesity, endocrine problems, infertility, neurologic disorders, cardiac disease, gastro intestinal issues, emotional/psychological imbalances and much much more. Yoga Therapy works on the physical body, the breathing body, the intellectual/learning body, the personality/wisdom body and the emotional body simultaneously. This practice is completely customized to the individual and their specific needs. Jorge furthered his studies in this tradition receiving his Certified Yoga Therapist (CIAYT) throughI the Vanderbilt School of Alternative Medicine and Yoga as Therapy North America (YATNA) in 2014.

Jorge’s career matured into a management position at Equinox. Although he has been working for the company for 15 years, he has been a Group Fitness Manager in several locations in Los Angeles. He is currently in charge of Equinox Sports Club in West Los Angeles.

Jorge still maintains a healthy private Yoga Therapy Practice with clients and menteees. With the aid of technology and the evolution of therapeutic practices, Jorge continues to see clients from around the world helping find improved health, personal development and spiritual direction.

“It is my greatest wish to inspire and motivate my students and clients. My personal faith is based in the mutual exchange of the teacher student relationship. I am only a reminder that everything you need for joy and peace is already in you, together we will find the right way.”
